Where to stay in Trento: the best areas

Trento's historic centre seen from above, between Piazza Duomo and the rooftops of the medieval streets

Trento is compact and easy to explore on foot, but where you sleep changes the flavour of your stay: here are the best areas, with their strengths and the right apartments for each.

Piazza Duomo and the heart of the centre

The city's drawing room: the Neptune fountain, the frescoed palaces, the historic cafés. Staying here means having everything on your doorstep — it is the choice for a first visit to Trento and for the Christmas markets. Here you will find the Duomo Luxury Apartment, a short walk from the Cathedral, and the homes on via Verdi, the street that leads straight to the Duomo.

Via Oss Mazzurana and the medieval streets

The backbone of the medieval centre, between Piazza Duomo and the Castello del Buonconsiglio: small shops, restaurants and historic palaces. It is the most “Trentino” area to wake up in. On Golden Suites you will find the three suites on via Oss Mazzurana — from alpine character with exposed beams to contemporary design.

San Martino, between the Castello del Buonconsiglio and the Adige

A lively, genuine district just outside the pedestrian ring: the historic centre is five minutes' walk away, the Adige and the MUSE a little further on. Ideal for families and groups looking for space: here you will find the roomy San Martino Golden Suites, with two bathrooms and a designer kitchen.

Le Albere and the MUSE

The Renzo Piano district along the Adige: modern, green, perfect for anyone travelling with children heading to the science museum. From the historic centre it is a pleasant walk — stay in the centre and you get both worlds.

The station area

Handy if you arrive by train or want to head out for the day to Lake Garda, Bolzano or Venice: the centre is still five minutes' walk from here, so the homes in the historic centre remain the most practical choice for rail travellers too — with the Italo discount reserved for guests.

Out of town: the Valsugana

For those who prefer lakes and nature with Trento within reach: at Borgo Valsugana you sleep among mountains and cycle paths, with Lake Levico and Lake Caldonazzo a few minutes away.
