Advent is the most magical — and most sought-after — time of the year in Trento: the Christmas market turns the historic centre into a little alpine village, amid the scent of mulled wine, lights and crafts. Here is how to plan your stay, and why the area you choose makes all the difference.

Dates, squares and opening times

The 2026 edition of the Trento Christmas market runs from 20 November 2026 to 6 January 2027, with 77 chalets spread between Piazza Fiera — at the foot of the medieval walls — and Piazza Mostra, a short walk from the Castello del Buonconsiglio. Open every day from 10:00 to 20:00, with the food area carrying on until 21:00 on Fridays and Saturdays (special times on public holidays).

Where to stay: the historic centre, with no worries

The answer is simple: in the historic centre. The two market squares are a few minutes' walk from the homes in the centre — no car, no parking, no shuttle buses: you step out of the apartment and you are already among the chalets. Among the apartments in central Trento you will find on Golden Suites are the Duomo Luxury Apartment overlooking the city's drawing room, the homes on via Verdi and the suites on via Oss Mazzurana, in the medieval heart of town.

Advice from people who live here

Book well in advance: the Advent weekends — the Immacolata above all — sell out months ahead, and the homes in the centre are the first to go. Consider the train: the station is ten minutes' walk from the squares and Golden Suites guests have a dedicated Italo discount; if you come by car, many homes in the centre have a private garage on request (at an extra charge, limited spaces — ask for it straight away). And by booking direct through the portal you get the lowest price, already discounted with no code needed.

Beyond the market

Between a hot chocolate and a wander round the chalets, Trento deserves your time: the Duomo and Piazza Duomo lit up, the Castello del Buonconsiglio, the MUSE for children. You will find it all in the complete guide to Trento.
