Molveno and the Paganella: lake, Dolomites and families

There is a reason why Lake Molveno has repeatedly been voted “the most beautiful lake in Italy”: emerald water, a beach that slopes in gently and, behind it, the walls of the UNESCO-listed Brenta Dolomites. And the Paganella plateau all around is one of the best-organised family destinations in the Alps.
Summer: the lake and the trails
A typical day: morning on the Molveno beach (cool water, well-kept lawns, canoe and pedalo rental), afternoon on the panoramic path that circles the lake or up high with the Pradel lifts. For children: the treetop adventure park and the walk to the old Segheria Veneziana Taialacqua sawmill.
Serious hikers head for the Croz dell'Altissimo mountain hut or, taking the cable car from Andalo, for the trails of the Paganella massif: the view stretches from the Brenta to Lake Garda.
Winter: skiing for everyone
The Paganella Ski Area — 50 km of pistes between Andalo and Fai — is perfect for families and intermediates: wide, sunny runs and excellent ski schools. After skiing, a walk on the frozen lake at Molveno or a snack in an alpine dairy hut. With the spa offer for our guests, finishing in the pool or the wellness area is a must.
Not to be missed
The Parco Faunistico di Spormaggiore wildlife park, home to brown bears and alpine wildlife: children talk about it for weeks. And the Trentino Guest Card, included in stays at the properties you find on Golden Suites, which gives you access to transport and museums across the province.
Where to stay
At Spormaggiore, a quarter of an hour by car from the lake and the lifts, the Appartamento Maurizio of the Golden Suites Selection line awaits you: a 90 m² attic apartment with views over the Val di Non, “Guest Favourite” on Airbnb and 9.6 on Booking.com. Village prices, not resort prices.
